Saturday, October 3 11 am-2 pm

Light bites and beverages (included) will be served at 11, followed by workshop. We will take our queue from our natural environment and paint items foraged from the orange grove as inspiration for our still life painting in the open air with beautiful natural light.
The term "en plein air" is French for "in the open air" and usually brings to mind grand landscapes, the core philosophy is simply painting from life in an outdoor setting. Instead of sketching a mountain, you setup objects like fruits, flowers outside in the natural light.

“We met in a community education class and quickly discovered a shared language rooted in creativity, curiosity, and connection. What began as a simple meeting of minds grew into a lasting friendship built on our mutual love of children and families, books, gardens, laughter, and, most deeply, art.

Painting has remained the constant thread in our lives and in our friendship. Over the years, we have taken countless painting classes and workshops together, always seeking to learn, experiment, and grow. Our shared commitment to a continuous art practice has shaped not only our individual journeys but also the way we inspire and support one another as artists”.

Beverly Halsey has served as a museum docent, an elementary school art teacher, and a dedicated explorer of clay. Her lifelong devotion to hands-on making and nurturing creativity continues to influence her artistic practice.

Susie Raymond, a retired elementary school teacher, now devotes her days fully to painting. She is primarily a plein air oil painter, drawn to capturing light, atmosphere, and the immediacy of the natural world. Her paintings are available through Daily Paintworks.

Together, we believe art is a way of seeing, understanding, and celebrating life. Our friendship remains a constant source of inspiration, reminding us that creativity is most meaningful when shared.
